BBBS Upstate Spotlights
BBBS would like to shout “Happy Match-iversary” to Big Brother Dan and Little Brother Trent! July marks two years since meeting and during their time together, these brothers have flown kites, attended BBBS events like Bowl for Kids’ Sake, Peace Center productions, played mini golf and disc golf, gone fishing, played football, basketball, and of course gone out to eat!
Big and Little also have some ideas for projects they can do together and work on from time to time to see how they make progress. BBBS of the Upstate appreciates that despite Dan’s work and travel schedule, he always prioritizes his commitment to his Little Brother! Thank you, too, to Trent and his mother for also staying engaged and keeping things going so well for another year!
Fundraising Events
Bowl for Kids’ Sake
BBBS of the Upstate would like to extend a big thank you to all of our families, volunteers, advisory and board members and other community supporters for making our annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake event such a success this year! We estimate around 150 showed to bowl or assist in day of festivities and we want to give a huge shout out to Bubba’s BBQ & Bash in Spartanburg for their long-term and continued support. Everyone in attendance agreed the BBQ, chicken, and fixings were delicious!
We also appreciate the sponsorships from ReGenesis Health Care and Publix Supermarket Charities and for Paradise Lanes donating auction items and selling pins to bowling patrons prior to the event. Our nonprofit cannot thrive and serve children without these very important partnerships and we are sincerely grateful for another great year and event!

Matches and families, join us Tuesday, July 23rd at 6:30pm for our annual Back to School Splash! Come ready to swim, eat, and have some fun! We can’t wait to see you and celebrate the start of another school year. *Backpacks and school supplies will be available on a first come, first serve basis (limited supply).
Summer Camp Presented by Speaking Down Barriers
July 8-12 and July 15-19
Universalist Church of Spartanburg
Welcome to the SDB Summer Camp! Kid’s ages 11-17 will be joining us for 2 weeks of fun at the UU of Spartanburg. Our camp offers a variety of activities including arts and crafts, poetry and writing workshops and more. It’s a great opportunity for kids to make new friends and create lasting memories. Don’t miss out on this exciting summer experience!

BBBS Upstate Welcomes…
D.J. and Marleyna
Let’s all welcome one of our newest matches, D.J. and Marleyna! The match went on their first outing where they played basketball, got ice cream, and were surprised to run into jazz music downtown! BBBS is so excited to have them in the program, and we look forward to hearing how their relationship grows.
